Utilizes technologies and directs research to generate a large number of samples of (new) chemicals, which are then tested for potential use (e.g., for therapeutic effect, in the case of a pharmaceutical). These large numbers of chemical samples, thus generated, are called a library and are screened (e.g., for therapeutic effect) via a variety of laboratory, biosensor, computational, receptor, or animal tests. Designs synthesis, and analysis of combinatorial libraries through standard and parallel synthesis. Techniques applied may encompass solid and/or solution phase synthesis. May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals.
